GMC SERVICE TIPS: WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE LOCKED OUT
It’s extraordinarily frustrating when you exit your locked car only to realize that your keys are still inside. If this ever happens to you, it’s important to know what to do, and our GMC service center has some helpful tips.
Call Your Auto Club
If you’re a member of AAA or another auto club, the easiest thing to do is to call them. They can get your door opened extremely fast. The only downside is that, depending on their service calls, a technician might not be able to get out to you for a while.
Try a Wire Hanger
Though it can be risky, you can always try to use a wire hanger to unlock your GMC vehicle. If you can get one, straighten it out and try to slip it inside the door frame. If you can get it in, you can attempt to hit the unlock button or slide the lock up. This method is often harder than it looks, however.
Invest in a Spare Key
If you get locked out and the above tricks aren’t feasible, it’s time to think about your spare key, assuming you have one. If it’s at your home, hopefully your house keys aren’t also locked in your car. If you’re not able to get inside your house, you can always contact a friend or family member to get it and bring it to you.
