Under the hood is a 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Buyers have the option to upgrade to a 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine. Rear-wheel-drive comes standard.

As a family SUV, seating capacity and storage space are top of mind for most buyers. This vehicle seats up to eight people and has 25.5 cubic feet of storage space in the rear cargo area. Fold down the third- and second-row seats for a total of 122.9 cubic feet of space. As for towing, the SUV has a maximum 8,400-pound towing capacity.

The GMC Yukon XL is a slightly larger cousin of the GMC Yukon. Aside from their size difference, the two share several similarities. The former has the same 5.3-liter V8 engine with an identical 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

As the larger of the two models, the GMC Yukon XL naturally has more interior space. While it also seats eight people, it has more storage capacity at 41.5 cubic feet in the rear. With the third- and second-row seats folded down, it has a maximum storage space of 144.7 cubic feet. As for tow capability, it has a comparable but slightly lower capacity at 8,300 pounds.
