Transmission Service
We want our customers to know that even beyond the transaction portion of your experience, GMC service means much more than helping with your maintenance after a sale.
Allow the team at Patriot Buick GMC to give you an overview of the maintenance and service needs of your transmission, a crucial system that can sometimes be an afterthought.
Transmission Warning Signs
Here’s a look at some warning signs that your transmission needs servicing:
- Burning Smells:Â A sign that the transmission is burning, and your system is overheating.
- Delayed Shifting:Â If your transmission seems delayed or lagging when it shifts gears, this is a problem.
- Leaks: Transmission fluid leaks are relatively uncommon but can be a sign that it’s time for a fluid change or a full flush of your transmission lines.
- Noises: If you hear strange grinding noises when your transmission shifts gears, or if they seem to catch as they shift, don’t ignore it!
If you experience any of the above, have your transmission checked out immediately. Time can be of the essence.
Transmission Filter
Some of the other filters in your Buick vehicle are relatively easy to reach. The transmission filter is a metal plate made with fiber material which catches and filters out pollutants. This needs to be replaced every 30,000 or 50,000 miles.
Transmission Flush
A transmission flush is just that. Tt replaces the transmission fluid in your pan, but also removes all the fluid from the lines and the rest of the system.
Transmission Fluid Change
If you don’t want to do a full flush of your transmission, at least get the fluid changed around every 30,000 miles. This prevents sediment buildup and keeps your transmission properly lubricated, which is key to the long-term health of your entire engine.
Full Transmission Change
This is the most drastic, and expensive, proposition when it comes to servicing your transmission. If you ignore certain important signs for too long or put off regularly transmission service, you could have to change out your transmission completely. This is not cheap, running potentially several thousand dollars.
If you suspect your transmission is acting up for any reason, schedule a service visit at our GMC dealership in Bartlesville, OK. Get on contact with our team of Buick dealers today!
